In a parliamentary session, the National Assembly approved, with five votes in favor, one against and four abstentions, to recognize the Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic and the Republic of Artsakh as independent and sovereign states. This would make eight states recognized by the country as independent and sovereign states, of which six are states with limited recognition.
It should be noted that previously Artsakh was recognized by the country as an independent and sovereign state, however, following the outbreak of a new war in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020, it withdrew the recognition.
The Presidency of the Republic is expected to issue a decree officially recognizing Transnistria and Artsakh as independent and sovereign states.
