Democratic Platform is the new government political coalition which replaces the governmental coalitions that previously existed in the country. However, Juan Cisneros, leader of the National Democratic Party, wants to take the coalition further:
"Democratic Platform should not only be a simple political coalition, but also a platform where democratic principles and values are promoted and defended. All political parties must unite and defend democracy, regardless of their ideology or electoral interests. In these times, democracy is being threatened by extremist groups and we have to defend it."
Cisneros indicated the coalition's objectives:
"The platform's main objective is to be open to the participation of all sectors: civil society, political parties, among others. It also seeks to promote policies that not only benefit citizens, but also contribute to the development and progress of our nation".
