National Assembly approves amendments to the Constitution of the Republic

In a parliamentary session, the National Assembly approved, with only three votes in favor, no votes against and four abstentions, a series of amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Aswington.

This series of reforms included the implementation of a presidential system of government to replace the previous one, which had been in place since the country's independence. As a result of this change, more powers are granted to the President of the Republic, becoming head of state and government. The position of Vice-President of the Republic is created, and consequently, the position of Prime Minister of the Republic is dissolved. It also provides information on the Council of Ministers and its functions.

For the first time, a section related to referendums, amendments and constitutional reforms is included in the Constitution.
